Facility Overview
The Yusen Terminal occupies 190 acres on the Port of Los Angeles’ Terminal Island. The terminal uses Berths 212-225 for 6,300 linear feet of berth length. Ships have a water depth of 35-45 feet along the berths. Of the 11 post-Panamax cranes, six are super post-Panamax for handling large container vessels. The terminal has on-dock rail capabilities and maintenance or repair services. It uses state-of-the-art technology to reduce dwell times. The Yusen Terminal recently increased its TEU capacity from 1.6 to 1.9 million. Most container ships are in the 8,000 to 12,000 TEU range, although the terminal can handle vessels carrying up to 15,000 TEUs.
