Facility Overview
As part of the Port of Miami, the South Florida Container Terminal completed a redevelopment project in 2021 to create a more sustainable facility. As part of the project, the terminal operators purchased 12 electric rubber-tire gantry cranes for delivery in 2023. They reconfigured the 71.32-acre facility to add 33% more usable space in the container yard, which is expected to increase the average TEU throughput by 300,000 TEUs to a maximum of just over one million TEU. The South Florida Container Terminal does over 50% of its container traffic with Latin American countries.
