Paul W. Conley Terminal


Facility Overview

Located at the mouth of the Mystic River, Paul W. Conley Terminal is a container terminal in the Port of Boston, Massachusetts. It is ten nautical miles from the harbor buoy. It has two 50-foot berths with a dredged depth of 47 feet. Recent improvements of $850 million have increased the depth and turning basin of the port to accommodate large container vessels. The port recently opened a freight haul road for better ground transportation. Rail service requires freight to be transported to miles by truck to the rail station. The terminal handled 187,902 TEUs in 2021. It averages 50,000 vehicles per year with 80 acres of vehicle storage. It has three ship-to-shore cranes and 16 rubber-tired gantry cranes.

  • Entrance Requirements
    • Individual: Access to Conley Terminal requires a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) and Massport Maritime Credentials which can be obtain by presenting a TWIC. Conley Terminal has a “NO VEST/NO ENTRY” policy
    • Vehicles: Drivers are required to wear a reflective garment such as a vest, shirt or jacket while at the Terminal. Those noted without the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be escorted off the premises by Port Police.
