Facility Overview
The Port of Tacoma’s North Intermodal Yard occupies 26 acres. It is located between Terminal 7 and the Husky Terminal. Containers are moved between the terminals and the yard without leaving port property or traveling on public roads. The North yard has 4.3 miles of working rail tracks and can accommodate 76 double-stack container rail cars. It operates 24/7.

- Entrance Requirements
- Individual: The Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as TWIC®, is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. TSA conducts a security threat assessment (background check) to determine a person’s eligibility and issues the credential. U.S. citizens and immigrants in certain immigration categories may apply for the credential

- Valid driver’s license
- Truck license plate number and state of registration
- Truck company name and SCAC Code
- Truck/tractor weight in pounds
- Trailer/chassis/flatbed weightin pounds (e.g. 9,000 lbs) – include the weight of Genset if it is your own
- Clean Truck registration (RFID tag)
- PPE (safety vest)
