Facility Overview
The Global Container Terminal (GCT) New York is also known as the Howland Hook Marine Terminal. It is located on Staten Island and is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The terminal has 3,012 linear feet of berthing space, enough to accommodate four container ships simultaneously. The water depth is 50 feet. The terminal has six post-Panamax cranes and on-dock rail service. The 187 acres include 68,000 square feet of storage and maintenance services. The terminal handles the containerized solid waste for New York City. It performs 450,000 container lifts per year.
