Facility Overview
APM operates its container terminal, called Pier 400, as part of the Port of Los Angeles. The facility occupies 484 acres. It has six berths for a total of 7,300 linear feet of berth space. The water depth is 55 feet. The terminal uses 19 post-Panamax cranes and processes 4.4 million TEUs or 2.4 million vessel lifts per year. The terminal has access to three major interstate highways and on-dock rail access using the Alameda Corridor for fast intermodal services. The terminal supports mega-ships carrying 17,000 to 18,000 TEUs and has maintenance and repair capabilities. The terminal is located at the entry to the west basin.
