Positioned adjacent to CSX Detroit (Dix Avenue) facility, this collaborative CSX/NS operation is also recognized as Livernois-Junction Yard. Aiming to streamline Detroit’s rail network and enhance truck flows, NS, in partnership with CSX, Canadian National (CN), and Canadian Pacific (CP), is contributing to the Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal (DIFT) study. This initiative proposes consolidating intermodal operations at Livernois-Junction Yard, with CP Detroit taking on non-intermodal functions in the future. Operating on the Shore Line Subdivision, Livernois Terminal enjoys access via trackage rights on other rail lines, creating a dynamic network. Notably, various railroads hold trackage rights over this line. Key intermodal connectors encompass Dix Avenue and Clark Street, ensuring seamless operations and connectivity within the terminal’s extensive network.
