Laredo, Texas, is 145 miles west of Corpus Christi using I-59 and is separated from Mexico by the Rio Grande. The Kansas City Southern Railway is constructing a second single-track bridge across the river to allow traffic to operate to and from Mexico at the same time. The bridge will be built about 35 miles from the existing one. The facility occupies 71 acres and supports both containers and trailers on flat cars. It has 4,500 feet of working track and a lift capacity of almost 120,000 per year. The 2023 merger of the Kansas City Southern and Canadian Pacific Railways provides an international rail service across North America.
