Facility Overview
As part of the Port of Savannah, Georgia, Garden City Terminal is the largest container terminal in North America. It has nine berths for a total of 9,693 linear feet of docking space. The facility is located on 1,345 acres with water depths ranging from 42 to 48 feet. With its 36 container cranes and 158 rubber-tire gantry cranes, the terminal handles about 6 million TEUs per year. Its capacity should increase when an additional eight cranes are commissioned within the next five years. The terminal is within six miles of two major interstate highways and on-terminal rail support for CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railroad.
